Tapping is simple to learn and easy to apply. These are the handouts I provide at my Introduction to EFT classes. 

 

Please remember, if you learned Tapping from videos or a book, attending a class will benefit you.
Your questions can be answered, and you’ll find new ways for flexibly applying Tapping.

 

  1. Focus on an Issue which you would like to change

  2. Rate SUDs intensity 1-10 (Subjective Units of Distress: 10 = very high intensity)

  3. Repeat Issue and self-acceptance phrase 3 times;
    Tapping Karate Chop point

  4. Tap speaking honestly and directly about the issue and its impact or meaning to you

  5. Tell the story details important to you

 

  1. Say how you wish the issue could have been (what change would have resolved the issue?)

  2. Goal (eg. I desire _______ in spite of the part of me that might think/believes it's not possible)

  3. Stop Tapping and breathe fully in, then release with a full breath out.

  4. Refocus on original issue. Is there any 1-10 intensity remaining?

  5. Tap again if intensity remains. (Use 9 Gamut sequence if necessary.)

The History of EFT:

 

EFT is based on TFT (Thought Field Therapy) created by Dr. Roger Callahan, a psychologist from California.

Dr. Callahan discovered 'psychological reversal' - that negative energy polarity (polarity reversal) within the body could be eliminated by tapping on the body's meridian lines.  Dr. Callahan’s work and research found that serious physical and emotional issues could be very consistently resolved with Tapping and “9 Gamut”.

 

When Basic Tapping algorithms worked less than efficiently, Dr. Callahan found that a simple Tapping routine called “9 Gamut” would get things working well again.  “9 Gamut” uses 9 steps, combining Tapping with eye movements, humming and numbers (a little like Brain Gym or EMDR) to very rapidly (in less than a minute) bring the two hemispheres of the brain back into balance.  This simple “9 Gamut” routine is the key which enabled the Basic Tapping algorithms to continue in effectively reducing emotional or symptom intensities, when thought loops or inner resistance to resolution occur.

 

However, the application of Tapping remained in the hands of trained practitioners because diagnostic work needed to be addressed to decide which acupressure points needed to be stimulated to gain the results desired. Gary Craig, a student of Dr. Callahan's, worked out a general Tapping routine including the major meridian lines.

 

Gary H. Craig created EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques)

Based on the work of Dr. Roger Callahan, more than twenty years ago Gary H. Craig created Emotional Freedom Techniques. This general Tapping routine, which he named Emotional Freedom Techniques, was easy to learn and could be used by anyone.

 

The Clinical Studies and Media exposure of EFT/Meridian Tapping is well documented on the EFT Universe home page found in the drop down menu under the title Resources.

The Tapping Solution where I am listed as an EFT Practitioner, is responsible for presenting the World Tapping Summit.  This year the 7th Annual World Tapping Summit had 610,000 attendees, and there are presently 10 million or more Tappers world-wide.
